Plastic WeldingWhen bumpers and other plastic components have suffered more serious structural damage than scuffs and gouging, condemning them to the rubbish bin is not always the next course of action. Many plastics used on motor vehicles these days can be repaired. Some need resins to bond the repairs, others can be repaired using heat. Here at Attention to Detail we have the latest in micro processor controlled hot air welding equipment, capable of temperatures over 650 deg C. This welding process is often used in conjunction with the previous repair system. (see Bumper repairs) A small bump to the corner of your car may seem nothing more than a scuff to the paint work. One example of a job we were called to. The seemingly light impact had not only scratched the paintwork, but had broken the bumper mounting bracket and the headlight fixings. In a conventional body shop this would have resulted in a £400 bumper + £150 repainting, a £275 headlight and £120 labour for fitting. Once we had identified the different types of plastics involved. We were able to re-weld using specialist plastic filler rods, the mounting bracket back onto the bumper. The bolt fixing back onto the headlight unit. Repair and respray the paintwork. All repaired on-site for a fraction of the cost of a new bumper. Key Benefits
